Six expats arrested for electronic fraud in Oman

Muscat: Six expatriates have been arrested for attempting to cheat bank clients by tricking them into revealing personal data.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said in a statement, "Muscat Governorate Police Command arrested six Asians on charges of electronic fraud on bank clients. The defendants were sending text messages to bank customers stating that they would suspend the bank card as details were not updated. They would then ask the customers to call them and then lure them into sharing personal data."

"Legal procedures against them are underway," the ROP added.
