#OmanPride:Veteran Indian swimming coach awarded ‘Bharat Gaurav’ Award

Muscat: Seasoned swimming coach Samar Bose was recently honoured with the prestigious ‘Bharat Gaurav’ award.
It is conferred every year by the India International Friendship Society to recognise the contribution and dedication to worthy causes and achievements of Non-Resident Indians, for keeping the Indian flag fly high.
Bose coaches swimming enthusiasts at the Royal Guards at Oman Technical College.
The award ceremony took place at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi on the Global Friendship Day.
Bose was acknowledged for his noble achievements by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Kaptan Singh Solanki.
Bose has been a versatile sports coach with a vast experience of 27 years.
He has been working with the Royal Guards of Oman Technical College for the last 14 years and football teams coached by him have been champions for the last many consecutive years.
As a swimming coach, he has trained students from more than 30 countries.
An extremely humble and hardworking coach, Bose chooses to give full credit for his stupendous success to God Almighty, his family and his own coach, the late Shree Vishwanath Bhattacharya.
He believes it is his positive attitude and motivation that help him in continuing to achieve higher and better goals so that his students always emerge as winners in all their competitions.
It was a rare global honour conferred upon Bose, along with 22 people from across the world during a glittering ceremony.
The award is conferred every year upon those luminous personalities in India and abroad, who have glorified India with their outstanding contribution in specialized fields, such as science and technology, education, services provider industries, arts, political, religious and social activities, etc.
With this coveted award, Bose’s name has become aligned with some of the most highly reputed awardees, such as Gen. V Krishna Rao, Air Chief Marshal N.C. Suri, movie super stars, such as Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Sunil Dutt, famous cricketers, such as Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev and many NRIs, who have made an impact on foreign soil through their valuable contribution.
