We never sold rotten rice in Oman, will not too, says Khimji Ramdas

Muscat: Khimji Ramdas, one of the leading business groups in Oman, has uploaded a notice on its official twitter handle stating that it has never sold rice of this (rotten) quality, nor will it in future.

“Khimji Ramdas is equally concerned with the reports circulating in the media and online about the rice issue on Tuesday May 10. As a law abiding corporate citizen we are working with the relevant authorities to address this issue, and bring out the truth in this matter since there has been some misrepresentation of the situation. Khimji Ramdas confirms that it has never sold rice oif this quality, nor will it in future,” the twitter notice read.

On May 10, Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) raided one of the warehouses in Barka and seized large quantities of rice bags claiming it to be rotten.
According to PACP, 22 tonnes of rotten rice bags were seized.
Following the raid, the social media was abuzz with pictures of rotten rice naming Khimji Ramdas group.
