European hospital to boost healthcare in Oman

Muscat: First European hospital project in Oman is expected to fill the gap in the world-class healthcare institution in Oman, said the Chief Executive Officer of Fincorp.
Fincorp is the financial advisor and promoter of the project.
“Many Omanis travel outside for treatment and even the government sends patients abroad for treatment that is not available in the Sultanate; we hope this project will fill the gap for an international healthcare institution in the country,” Sheikh Nasr Al Hosni said while announcing the first European hospital in Oman.
A 70-bed multi-specialty hospital in Muscat is expected to start its operation within two years and the total investment for the hospital is OMR21 million.
According to officials, the site for the hospital has not been confirmed yet.

The hospital will be operated by Asistencia Sanitaria Interprovincial De Seguros S.A.U (ASISA), a private healthcare leader in Spain and a leading insurance provider with partnership from Oman and Emirates Investment Holding Co. SOAG (O&E) and Al Konji Holding.
“This hospital is not like the others in Oman; this is a hospital owned by doctors and that’s the reason we chose ASISA,” Al Hosni asserted.
He also said the European partnership will bring investment to the country.
“This partnership will bring foreign investment to the Sultanate and will also improve the current system by transferring knowledge and skills from abroad, which are currently lacking in the private healthcare sector,” Al Hosni stated.
The ASISA group has stakeholders in the form of more than 12,000 doctors and employs more than 32,000 healthcare professionals.
40 doctors
According to the official from ASISA, the hospital in Muscat will have more than 40 doctors from the European region.
“We will bring in more than 40 doctors, nurses and well experienced healthcare managers from our side and the rest will be filled by the reputed local doctors available here,” Alvaro Martinez- Arroyo, corporate development director at ASISA said.
He also invited local doctors to become one of the stakeholders of the project.
“We are committed to providing the best healthcare services to meet the growing demand in the country and are confident that this hospital will be recognised as one of the leading brands in Oman to meet the rising demand,” he added.
According to officials, the hospital will provide a wide range of medical treatment facilities, including mother and child care, cardiology, genetics, urology, neurology, dermatology, oncology, rehabilitation, etc.
Expansion plans
Speaking about their expansion plans in Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council, an ASISA official said, “Right now we are concentrating on this project; as our first effort to make an entry to this region, this is an important one for us.”
He also said that right now ASISA is not planning to implement any sort of insurance scheme for its patients.
