Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry warns of legal measures against stores that are not committed to take precautionary measures against COVID19.

The Ministry said in statement: "It was noticed that some commercial centers and shops did not adhere to precautionary measures issued by Ministry of Health by organizing the shopping process for consumers in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus."

The Ministry stated that it will take legal measures against centers and stores that have not complied with the following procedures:

1. Organising the process of entering consumers in batches.

2. Putting a safe distance (two meters) between consumers at accounting corner.

3. Sterilising shopping carts and surfaces, and providing sterilizers for consumers.

It also appealed to the Ministry to adhere to these measures for the safety of consumers and to limit the transmission of infection. Customers are requested to avoid shopping during peak period, which is usually between 7 pm and 10 pm, and the Ministry also urged consumers to shop through electronic applications.
