Muscat: The Oman National Drift tournament, organized by the Oman Automobile Association, concluded on Friday and witnessed the participation of 22 competitors under the patronage of retired Brigadier General Salim Al Maskari, Chairman of the Oman Automobile Association.
Three contestants withdrew due to technical problems in their vehicles before the start of the championship qualifiers.
The 19 remaining contestants participated using their skills and experience in driving sports cars around the tracks of the tournament ground, bringing cheers from the enthralled audience.
Sami Al Shaibani won the first place, Aref Al Balushi won second place, and Haitham Al Hadidi won third place in the tournament.
The association's board chairman, Brigadier General Al Maskari, said on Friday, “The Association congratulates the winners of this championship and wishes success to the rest of the contestants.”
The tournament started on Friday evening, at 4:30 pm with a massive audience that interacted extensively during the tournament and expressed their happiness and a sense of joy and excitement during the playoffs and competitions between the 19 Omani contestants and three participants from the United Arab Emirates.
