Muscat: Heavy to moderate rain was reported from different parts of Oman on Monday.
The depression that brought rain in many places in the Sultanate will continue to affect the weather until Tuesday.
Oman’s Meteorology department said that heavy to light rain fell in Nizwa, Adam Al Awabi, Rustaq, Sinaw, Mahoot, Bahla and several other places on Monday. “We are expecting more rain in Al Dhahira and Al Dakhiliya,” an official said.
The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has urged citizens and residents to stay away from low-lying areas and overflowing wadis.
Temperatures fall
The rains brought down temperatures all over Oman.
Moderate to heavy rain fell in most of the governorates in Oman from Friday due to the impact of a deep air depression called Haya, according to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).
Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Batinah South, Al Batinah North and Muscat received heavy rainfall on Sunday.
“The amount of rainfall recorded (mm) in some monitoring stations in wilayat and Governorates’ stations within 24 hours are as follows: Madha 49.4, Al Awabi 43.8, Bidbid 43.6, Nakhal 42.6, Seeq 36.8, Saham 22.4, Liwa 22.4, Bawshar 20.8, Al Buraimi 14.0, Sohar 14.0, Shinas 13.2, Al Suwaiq 12.8, Al Khabourah 12.6 and Al Rustaq 12.4.”
Following heavy rain, several people were rescued from various parts of Oman.
Meanwhile, Muscat Municipality started cleaning the dusty roads and disposing of waste to open the paths for the accumulated water to flow following the heavy rain.
