SCP to host 'Public-Private Partnership Forum' in Oman

Muscat: A Forum with the aim of strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors in order to achieve a sustainable economy for Oman is to take place next week in Muscat.

The meeting is to be hosted by the Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) and HE Darwish bin Ismail bin Ali Al Balushi, minister responsible for Financial Affairs. A number of dignitaries and officials from various bodies related to the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre will also be present on 7 October.

Oman Partnerships Forum, to be held in cooperation with the Public Authority for Privatisation and Partnership, will see the participation of a number of relevant government sectors, banks, local and international financing institutions, investment funds and private sector institutions, and will examine the government's developmental role in achieving a sustainable economy based on knowledge, competitiveness, experience and diversity to achieve economic and social development.

The meeting aims at the exchange of knowledge and experience in the concept and principles of partnership in general, as well as the review of development projects available for investment and implementation in this field.

It also seeks to review and learn about best practice as well as lessons learned from regional and global experience in project finance, and the methods and options for the implementation of development projects in the concept of partnership.

It hopes to transfer knowledge and the exchange of legal, legislative and technical expertise in project finance, in addition to presenting the existing experiences and highlighting the reasons for success and how to benefit from them.

The forum will host a number of local and international experts in this field, to share the successful experiences regionally and globally with the attendees and discuss the method of their implementation in the Sultanate.

The forum will last for two days and will address a number of topics related to the standards and best global practices in the field of partnership between the two sectors in the implementation of development plans through dialogue, intellectual and interactive sessions.

On the side-lines of the forum, some opportunities for investment in the Sultanate will be presented through introductory platforms.
