Muscat: Oman announced its formal rejection of the recent statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Palestine and pledged Oman's full support for an independent Palestine.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs read: "Oman announces its rejection of the latest statement made by the Israeli head of the government.
"Oman also affirms its support for the Palestinian people in all of their efforts in that are made to found an independant palestinian country, where the capital will be Eastern Al Quds (Jerusalem)," the statement added.
While the Israeli President Reuven Rivlin made no recent comments about the state of Palestine, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has recently announced that he would annex parts of the West Bank if he won re-election in next week's elections, which are proving to be increasingly challenging for the PM.
