SQU prof honoured at World Education Congress

Muscat: An Assistant Professor from the Sultan Qaboos University has been recognised as one among the most dedicated professors by the World Education Congress.

Dr. Suja Karkada, Assistant Professor, and Head of the Department of Fundamentals and Administration, College of Nursing, Sultan Qaboos University was recognized as one among the '100 Most Dedicated Professors' by the World Education Congress.

Dr. Karkada was honoured at a ceremony organized by World Education Congress on 4 July 2019 at Taj Lands End in Mumbai, India. The theme of the Congress was “Reorienting education for a sustainable future”.

The 100 Most Dedicated Professors is an intensely researched process undertaken by the research cell, which consists of Post Graduates in History & Management with over 5-years research experience post their studies.

It is the job of the research cell to produce a shortlist of individuals who are doing extraordinary work and track the record of their achievements. The shortlist is then reviewed by a Jury comprising of senior professionals from across the globe.

Dr. Karkada completed her BSc Nursing from Govt. College of Nursing, Bangalore in 1992, and joined the teaching profession. She worked in Manipal University, India, from 1995 -2011 and completed MSN (1998), M.Phil Nursing (2002) and PhD (2010). After working in UAE at RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, College of Nursing for 3 years from 2011.

She joined SQU in September 2014. She is an approved master’s supervisor at SQU, has authored 34 publications in journals, and currently conducting four research studies, all of them are funded by the University. Dr Suja has supervised 35 postgraduate theses in India and abroad, examined around 80 research students at PhD, M.Phil and MSN level.
