Heavy rain affects water supply in some parts of Oman

Muscat: Heavy rains and winds in wilayat Dhank have resulted in a water shortage, the Public Authority for Water (Diam) said on Saturday.

According to Diam, the weather condition in the wilayah has damaged the electricity poles that feed the pumping stations.

In a statement online, Diam said: "We would like to warn that rains and winds witnessed in the wilayah have damaged the electricity poles feeding the water pumping wells in Abu Karba in wilayat Dhank.

"The water supply will be affected in the areas of wilayat Dhank, in addition to Aflaj, in wilayat Ibri."

However, according to Diam, the issue is expected to be resolved within the next 24 hours.

"It is expected that the water will gradually return after the electricity is restored and the water pressure has improved within 24 hours," Diam added.
