Twice as nice multiple births celebration in Oman

Muscat: Hundreds of twins, triplets and quadruplets will come together for the first multiple birth celebration event in November 2019, the organisers announced on Sunday.
Mohammed Al Baluchi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Omani Business Centre said: “We are organising this remarkable local and international event to coincide with the celebration of our 49th National Day to bring what promises to be a lovely and enjoyable experience to Oman”.
The event is open for all, including expats.
Al Baluchi said: “A lot of expats have already started registering for the event, including Indians, Pakistanis, Americans, Malaysians and most of the Arab countries.”
According to organisers, the most recent data shows that a total of 663 multiple births are registered in the Sultanate, 95 per cent of which are twins. Triplets account for 4.1 per cent with 27 sets and there are five sets of quadruplets.
“The oldest twins registering to take part in the event are 44 years old, however, we are still waiting on the youngest: there are many multiple births registered who are expected to be born before next November. Al Baluchi added: “Seven sets of twins born in June are already registered and we expect the total number of participants will reach 1000”
Mohammad Al Baluchi is the father of 3-year-old twin girls; he came up with the idea as he wants his daughters to witness such an experiment.
Al Baluchi explained: “We invite all multiple birth babies to participate in the event. We aim to bring together in one place the largest number of twins from all over the Sultanate and participate in the national march that embodies our love of our homeland.”
As the event will gather a huge number of twins and guests, many twins have volunteered to help organise the event.
Suhailah Al Alawi, one of the volunteers, said: “I have sister twins so when I heard about the event I registered as a volunteer. I never imagined that we had this large a number of multiple birth babies in Oman. She added: “It will be amazing to see all the twins together in one place in a big event for the first time in the Sultanate.”
Aysha Al Hajri, a volunteer on the organising team said: “The event will have many and various activities and entertainment event such as twins meeting sessions, theatre, sports, and a photography corner. We will also arrange special offers, discounts and prizes for twins and their families.”
