This is where Oman's first hot-air balloon carnival will be held

Muscat: Oman’s first balloon carnival will take place in Dhofar Governorate this summer, the Ministry of Tourism has announced.
In a statement, the ministry said, “This Balloon Carnival is the first event of its kind in the Gulf, and will be held in the next Khareef season in Sahnoot of Dhofar governorate from July 20 to August 25, 2019, organised by Omani companies and supported by a number of government agencies.”
This is part of Khareef season, which runs from June 21 to September 21 every year.
Khareef is a unique phenomenon in the Sultanate that affects most coastal Wilayats in the Governorate of Dhofar from Dhalkut in the west to the Mirbat in the east. During this season, Salalah becomes a magnet for family tourism from the Sultanate and the Gulf region.
During the damp and misty conditions, private and public sector organisations organise services and facilities in preparation for the influx of visitors and tourists. The number of visitors to Salalah during Khareef season 2018 exceeded 800,000, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
