Expat arrested by ROP for attempting to smuggle narcotics

Muscat: An expat was arrested for attempting to smuggle 86 capsules of heroin inside his body, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has revealed.

The anti-narcotics department of Al Wusta police foiled the attempt to smuggle narcotics.

In a statement, the police said: "The Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Department, led by Al Wusta Police, arrested a person of Asian nationality in Wilayat Haima on charges of smuggling 86 capsules of heroin drug in his intestines."

The police called on citizens and residents to cooperate in combating the drug scourge and to inform the police of any information that helps detect smugglers and drug traffickers by calling 9999 or toll free number of the General Directorate for Drug Control (1444) or to go to the nearest police station.
