Muscat: A poll will be conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCIS) in order to identify preferred housing patterns among Omanis and the trend towards housing loans.
According to NCSI, the poll will highlight social housing programmes provided by the Ministry of Housing, which includes housing aid and soft housing loans.
At least 3000 people will be targeted for the survey, including 1500 people who applied for housing aid or loans, as well as those who have already received loans from the Ministry of Housing; it will also cover 1500 people over 18 years of age.
According to the Ministry of Housing, the A’Dakhiliya Governorate recorded the highest number of housing aid from January to November 2015, with 146 people receiving aid, while South Al Batinah followed with 109 and Muscat with 90. The Buraimi Governorate received the least number of housing aid recorded at only 9.
Also during the same period, 309 locals in the North Al Batinah Governorate received housing loans, which was the highest, while South Al Sharqiyah came in second, with 242 and was followed by A’Dakhiliya with 235 people receiving housing loans.
Only 27 people from the Al Wusta Governorate received housing loans, which is the lowest recorded during the time period.
