NBO, Vanderlande win knockout titles

Muscat: National Bank of Oman (NBO) and Vanderlande emerged champions of Intermediate and Junior Division Knockout tournaments beating STS Tebodin and TR Engineering in their respective finals at Muscat Municipality ground in Al Amerat.
Pankaj Khimji, senior Board Member of Oman Cricket, was the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony that followed the finals and gave away the trophies and other prizes to the winners and the runners-up as well as the star performers in the presence of Madhu Jesrani, Secretary Oman Cricket, Kiran Asher, Dad Mohammed Al Balushi, Board Members, Duleep Mendis, Chief Development Officer, and senior OC officials.
Star all-rounder Mustansar Hussain helped NBO to a big victory with yet another match-winning performance and was rightly named the player of the match in the final. Opting to bat first, NBO scored 193 for 5 in 20 overs thanks to brilliant batting by opener Khurram Bilal (69 off 29) and Mustansar (56 off 35). STS failed to cope with a superb Mustansar spell (4 for 14), getting dismissed for a meagre 107 in the 16th over. Moazzam Shah took two wickets.
Opener Faris Al Zadjali top-scored with a fluent 35 off 18 balls. Intermediate Final (Intermediate Division Knockout final): NBO 193 for 5 in 20 overs (Khurram Bilal 69 – 14x4, Mustansar Hussain 56 – 7x4, Baiju Lawrence 24 –1x4, Jeel Tanna 2-34) thrashed STS Tebodin 107 for 10 in 15.5 overs (Faris Al Zadjali 35 – 6x4, Muhammed Ali 18 – 1x4, Mustansar Hussain 4-14, Moazzam Shah 2-31) by 86 runs. Sultan shines in Vanderlande’s win Excellent all-round show by captain Muhammed Sultan steered Vanderlande to 6-wicket win over TR Engineering in the Junior Division Knockout final. Batting first, TR Engineering posted a fighting 162 for 8 on the board with major contributions from Salman Khan (45) and Javed Shaikh (28). Sultan was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 33.
Openers Rahul Chadha (60) and Sultan (30) and one drop Barathwaj Vinayagam (50) led the way with valuable knocks, helping Vanderlande to a wonderful victory as it reached 163 for 4 in 18.4 overs. Salman bagged two wickets. Junior Division Final (Junior Division Knockout final): TR Engineering 162 for 8 in 20 overs (Salman Khan 45 – 4x4, 2x6, Javed Shaikh 28 – 5x4, Mushir Khatib 26 – 4x4, Muhammed Sultan 3-33) lost to Vanderlande 163 for 4 in 18.4 overs (Rahul Chadha 60 – 8x4, Barathwaj Vinayagam 50 – 5x4, Muhammed Sultan 30 – 5x4, Salman Khan 2-20) by 6 wickets.
