After five years of detention in India, a court has issued a decision to acquit an Omani citizen of the charges held against him.
He has now been allowed to return to the Sultanate.
"In the interest of the Omani government and under the guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in New Delhi followed the case of citizen Rashid Al Madassari and praise God, these efforts in cooperation with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs have culminated in the acquittal of the accused." – Omans’s Embassy in India
Officials added that there will be some administrative procedures to enable the citizen to return home.
