Muscat: From May 2019, municipal licence and leases will only be renewed online, with no papers being accepted at offices as part of plans to streamline works.
The Municipality said in a statement online, “In order to improve the services provided to the beneficiaries, Muscat Municipality is pleased to announce that the renewal services for the leases and municipal licenses are available electronically.”
From May 1, contracts may be renewed through the Muscat Municipality website, Baladiyeti application via smartphones, Sanad offices and in real estate offices.
The Auditor Services office will now only accept the registration of new contracts and licences.
The move is part of a plan to improve municipal work efficiency, provide better and more innovative services, facilitate better access to those who require the services, and increase transparency between the client and Muscat Municipality.
To activate the Baladiyeti app once it has been downloaded, select your language, enter your mobile number in the provided space and then select ‘Proceed’. Users will receive an SMS with a one-time pin. This OTP must be entered into the required field, after which users must click on proceed.
They can then create their profile at that time, or choose to do so at a later date.
