The next time you are in Abu Dhabi, make sure you visit the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.

One of the largest mosques in the world, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque took 10 years to complete, and was finished in 2007 at the cost of two billion Dirhams (about OMR 200 million)

The mosque is large enough to accommodate over 40,000 worshippers, while the main prayer hall can hold over 7,000. There are two smaller prayer halls, with a capacity of 1,500 each, one of which is the women's prayer hall

The carpet in the main prayer hall is considered to be the world's largest carpet, and measures 5,627 square metres, and was made by around 1,200-1,300 carpet weavers
