Officials recover more than OMR68,000 for consumers in this part of Oman

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) in the Wilayat of Barka helped recover more than OMR68,000 last year, authorities announced.
An official said that the recovery of OMR68,630 in 2018 was a result of the department's efforts to protect the rights of consumers through various legal means.
According to authorities, the highest amount recovered was OMR18,989 from the contracting and building materials sector, followed by OMR16,025 from the labor services sector. OMR8,398 was recovered from furniture and furnishings stores, while the rest of the amount was recovered from various other sectors.
Ahmed Saleh Al Zadjali, a PACP official said: "The Department deals with all complaints by taking the necessary measures in accordance with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law, and often reaches a settlement that satisfies all parties. The authority calls upon business owners to follow the regulations and abide by the laws in all commercial transactions."
