Muscat Festival: Wilayat Mudhaibi blends history and heritage at Amerat Park

Muscat: Wilayat Mudhaibi’s participation at the Muscat Festival saw positive reactions from visitors as they experienced rich history and heritage from the people of the Wilayat.
Regarding the Bedouin environment, Nassra Al Wuhabi, the village supervisor, said: “We are keen to have a group of craftswomen carrying out Bedouin activities by decorating camels and horses. The women also demonstrated the traditional method of preparing coffee. The people of Al Mudhaibi are known for breeding camels, and therefore, nine camels were presented and people were shown how the locals take care of them, and how they use these animals in their daily lives.”
Al Mudhaibi is known for manufacturing woollen and cotton textile products, most notably, Omani women’s and men’s fashion, such as mussar, wizar, cushions and some decorations put on the backs of horses and camels. The palm handicraft industry is one of the most famous traditional craft industries, still practised in many cities and villages. The variety of products and forms — baskets, mats and other items— are made by women weaving palm fronds.
