More than 10,000 certificates of release issued

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said that the number of certificates issued for the release of mechanical, metal, electrical, chemical, construction and food and agricultural products in Muscat, Sohar and Dhofar during the second quarter of 2018 reached to 10,530, compared with 7,355 certificates issued during the same period in 2017.
The Department of Statistics in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that the number of certificates of release for passenger cars and tyres during the second quarter of 2018 was 2,712 which is an increased of 175.1 per cent over 986 of the same period of last year. There were 17 certificate of release issued for trailers. Similarly, there were 470 certificate of release issued for lead-acid batteries for cars in the second quarter of 2018 which is an increase by 46.9 per cent over 320 certificates of the second quarter of 2017. There were 22 certificates of release issued for motorcycles, 343 certificate for low voltage electrical equipment. The number of certificates of release given for engine lubricant oils was 235 which is an increase by 35.1 per cent, over 174 in the second quarter of last year. The cosmetic products got 244 certificates of release which is an increase of 18 per cent over 207 of the second quarter of 2017.
The ministry also said that 330 certificates of release given for children's toys and games during the second quarter of this year. The number of certificates of release issued for Portland cement and reinforcing steel issued during the second quarter of this year was an increase by 41 per cent reaching to 169 from 120 of the same period in 2017. There were two certificates of release given for safety shoes during the second quarter of this year.
