CBO's High Sharia Supervisory Authority holds meeting

Muscat: The High Sharia Supervisory Authority of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) held its third meeting for 2018 on Monday at the premises of CBO. The meeting was chaired by Dr Kahlan Bin Nabhan Al Kharusi.
The authority carried out detailed deliberations on the issues presented in the agenda, covering a bank request for Sukuk Funding Programme “Ijara”, and gave its opinions and observations on these issues in the light of discussions. The Authority was also briefed by a follow-up report on the actions taken on the issues discussed in the previous meeting.
In addition, the Authority met with members of the Sharia Supervisory Boards (SSBs) of Islamic Banking Entities (IBEs). The meeting included a presentation on the initiatives and efforts undertaken by the Central Bank of Oman to develop the Islamic banking sector. The Authority also deliberated on suggestions and views of IBEs pertaining to the development of the Islamic banking sector.
