Muscat: In line with the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW 2018) events, which started early this week, the National Business Centre (NBC) on Wednesday organised a workshop on investment readiness for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
The workshop, which was moderated by William R. Crew, CEO of Inspired Solutions, highlighted the notion of investment readiness and the importance of being prepared to provide the required documentation to convince banks and funds to finance the project.
Crew also underscored the significance of being all set to present the project’s idea to investors and persuade them to invest, and getting familiarised with the Sultanate’s investment laws before commencing any project.
It should be noted that NBC also organised a discussion gathering called "Lamma", which aimed at providing a practical presentation on how to attract investments for the SMEs.
Additionally, an SME clinic was also present to offer consulting and solution services for the SMEs.
A three-day Start-up Weekend will kick off on Thursday at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat as part of the GEW 2018 events.
Start-up Weekend is a 54-hour weekend event that will bring together designers, developers, marketers and start-up enthusiasts to share ideas, form teams, and launch start-ups.
Around 20 consultants and experts in entrepreneurship will take part in the event, which aims at promoting communication and exchanging ideas and views between the participants.
GEW is a global event celebrated by more than 160 countries worldwide. GEW is recognised as the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators who work together to help bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
The event aims at connecting experts and entrepreneurs across Oman and sectors to unleash their ideas and transform innovative ideas into reality. It also aspires to encourage entrepreneurs in Oman to be more visible and help them in their efforts towards launch and scale.
