Golf: Yahya Baabood crowned A’Saffa champion

MUSCAT: Yahya Baabood was declared champion of this year’s A’Saffa Golf Tournament, with an impressive score of 43 Nett which was recently organized at the Ghala Golf Club course. The tournament was held under the patronage of Eng Hamoud bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Director, Royal Installations Affairs, Royal Court Affairs, A’Saffa Foods, SAOG.
An 18-hole competition in Stableford format, the tournament was open to all golfers with a registered handicap in the Sultanate.
The tournament witnessed the participation of over 100 avid golfers. Talal Al Balushi who scored an incredible 41 Nett score was the first runner-up, followed by Srinivas Habber, who was declared second runner-up with a Nett score of 39 points. The ladies division was won by Ave Peetri with a score of 34 Nett, and the junior division was won by Nasih Al Barwani with a Nett score of 44 points. ‘Nearest to the pin’ was won by Ali Hameed.
Congratulating the winners on their victories, Eng Mohammed Suhail al Shanfari, CEO of A’Saffa Foods said, “We are appreciative of all the hard work and dedication that goes into this tournament, and are elated that the golfing community came together once again this year to be a part of it. Apart from thanking those who participated and made this year’s tournament a success, I would like to thank the Ghala Golf Club for hosting the game at their world-class facility”.

Post the tournament; players were greeted with a delicious A’Saffa barbeque spread. The event came to close with a dinner gala for participants and other special invitees.
