MUSCAT: The Indian Social Club – Goan Wing is all set to host the eagerly-awaited one-day eight-a-side football tournament at the Al Amal Club Ground, Azaiba on November 9, at 8am.
Like previous years, the response to this annual event has been overwhelming with 16 teams all vying to be champions.
The draw for the fixtures was held over the weekend at Majan Continental Hotel, with the highlight of the event being the unveiling of the glittering trophy.
The teams were drawn into four groups, with the top two teams from each group making for the quarter-final round.
Apart from the main eight-a-side tournament there will be the ladies’ tiebreaker, ladies tug-of-war, kid’s games, spot prizes and lots of music and fun.
Anthony Lourenco, Convenor, Goan Wing welcomed the audience and thanked all the teams for their enthusiasm and support. He informed that we have restricted the teams this year for more competitive football and also to make time for more activities for the spectators. He said, “organizing tournaments like this will encourage our younger generation to play football and at the same time keep the spirit of football alive in all of us.”
The Co-Convenor,.Herman Estibeiro proposed the vote of thanks.
