Received a scam message on your phone in Oman? Police are clamping down

Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested a gang of 10 on charges of fraud, after they were caught scamming people through fake messages.
A statement from ROP said the perpetrators contacted their victims through messages on their phones, tell them that they had won money.
An official source at the ROP said, "The Criminal Investigation Department in Muscat and the Department of Crime Prevention have arrested 10 people over the charges of electronic fraud and violation of the Cyber Law. The culprits contacted people through fake messages on local telecom networks."
The case is still under investigation.
