Women in Kerala form 620 km wall to promote gender equality

Muscat: Women from all walks of life in Kerala, India united to create a 620km wall as part of a state-sponsored initiative to promote gender equality.
Kerala's Chief Minister praised the initiative, calling it a momentous occasion for all Keralites.
Pinarayi Vijayan in a statement congratulated "all who made Kerala's Women’s Wall a great success. The 620 km long gathering, organised to uphold the values of Kerala Renaissance, saw huge participation of women from all walks of life. This is a momentous occasion in our social life."
The wall was formed from the northern end of Kasaragod to the southern tip in Thiruvananthapuram.
In a show of solidarity, thousands of men also lined up, forming a parallel 'human wall'.
According to Kerala's ruling party, "Women across all sections of the society are expressing their solidarity with the fight to protect the renaissance tradition of Kerala."
