More than 600 expats arrested in Oman in a week

Muscat: A total of 614 expats were arrested for violating the Labour Law and another 499 deported in one week, Oman's Ministry of Manpower announced.
The Ministry released its weekly indicators of expat workers who were arrested in joint operations. The workers were arrested between September 30 and October 6, 2018. Of the total violators, 498 were commercial workers, 47 were agricultural, and 69 were domestic workers.
The arrested included 230 runaway workers and 31 undocumented workers.
Muscat, the capital, recorded the highest number of arrests with 346 followed by Nothern Batinah governorate with 56. During the same week, 499 illegal labourers were deported.
