Oman government issues statement about expat accident deaths

Muscat: Oman's Ministry of Tourism has issued a statement about the Hafah Souq accident in Salalah, which resulted in the deaths of two British women and one other British expat man being injured.
According to Royal Oman Police (ROP), preliminary reports indicate that the cause of the accident is the driver's deviation from his lane. The driver also did not have a driving licence and the usual procedures are being followed in the aftermath of the accident.
The ministry said in a statement: "It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Tourism has learned of the accident that took place near Hafah Souq in Salalah, which affected three British citizens and resulted into the death of two ladies, while a gentleman was injured and remains in stable condition."
"The ministry would like to express its deepest condolences to the families of the two victims of this tragic and painful accident, and it wishes the injured a speedy recovery and a safe return to his home country. The ministry is liaising closely with all relevant authorities in order to provide assistance whenever needed," the ministry added.
