Cricket: E&Y, OCT Al Hail A, STS Tebodin and Khalsa United post victories

MUSCAT: Opener Muhammed Attique and left-arm spinner Alkesh Joshi were the stars of Ernst and Young’s emphatic 52-run victory against Sarco in a C Division clash at Muscat Municipality ground 1 in Al Amerat.
Opting to bat first E&Y posted a robust total on the board, scoring 220 for 7 in 30 overs. Attique led the way with a 62-ball 66 while Omar Sarfraz (40 off 26) and Rana Zeeshan (28 off 14) made useful runs too. Hussain and Rakesh Patel bagged two wickets each.
Sarco’s chase started on a disastrous note as it slumped to 80 for 6 in the 13th over. Recovery was not easy and the whole team was finally dismissed for 168 in the 23rd over. Ajay Menon (45 off 36) and Kumar Deepak (37 off 22) were Sarco’s main scorers. Alkesh bowled well for E&Y, taking 3 wickets for 27 runs. Akbar, Rana Zeeshan and Vishak Jayakumar all took two wickets each.

Ismail Ghulam shines
Ismail Ghulam’s strokeful 78 off 46 powered OCT Al Hail A to a thumping 7-wicket victory against Mott MacDonald in a C Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 2.
Tawsif Tambe smashed 45-ball 94 to propel Mott MacDonald to a big total of 196 for 8 in 20 overs. Javed Tanash batted well too for his 46 off 33 balls. Ismail Al Balushi and Haroon Trad picked two wickets each.
OCT Al Hail’s valiant chase started on a positive note with a 122-run opening stand in 11 overs between Ismail Ghulam and Younis Rahim Al Balushi (41 off 28). OCT Al Hail reached the target in 19.2 overs, scoring 199 for 3 to seal a thrilling win.
Brief scores (C Division): Mott MacDonald 196 for 8 in 20 overs (Tawsif Tambe 94 27, Haroon Trad 2-47) lost to OCT Al Hail A 199 for 3 in 19.2 overs (Ismail Ghulam 78 – 12x4, 2x6, Younis Rahim 41 – 5x4) by 7 wickets.

NBO lose
In a D Division game, STS Tebodin defeated NBO by 22 runs at Muscat Municipality ground 3.
Batting first, STS scored 163 for 9 in 20 overs thanks to solid batting by Muhammed Ali (53 off 30) and Neev Poojari (38 off 31). Moazzam Shah, Zaheer Abbas and Homeshwar Ratre bagged two wickets each.
NBO soon found itself in deep trouble, struggling at 83 for 5 in 14th over and was finally bundled out for 141 in 18.4 overs. Mustansar Hussain topscored with 24 off 16. Salman Muhammed bowled brilliantly to claim 3 wickets for 17 runs while Vikas Bhadoria picked 2 for 31.

Iftikhar stars for Khalsa
In another D Division match, Iftikhar Ahmed helped Khalsa United to a 55-run win against Bank Muscat.
Khalsa United scored 194 for 4 in 20 overs thanks to useful contributions from Iftikhar Ahmed (69 off 46), Arvind Singh (38 off 26) and Sushil Kadam (34 off 32).
Bank Muscat could manage only 139 for 8 in its quota of overs. Opener Mohsin Nazir topscored with 35 off 32 while Imran Syed scored 33 off 25. Harminder Singh captured 3 wickets for 25 runs while Shreerang Trivedi took 2 for 26.
