ROP makes multiple arrests for theft

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police has carried out a number of arrests related to theft.

In one case, six expatriates were arrested for stealing electric cables, with the ROP reporting on Twitter "the police in North Al Batinah governorate has arrested six expatriates for stealing electrical cables."

An official ROP source said that the Department of Criminal Inquiries Investigations in North Al Batinah conducted an investigation into the theft of cables, "with cooperation from both citizens and residents resulting in the arrest of the suspects in Saham, where they were found with cables on their possession."

In a second case, the ROP arrested 21 people on charges of theft in Dhofar.

The Royal Oman Police revealed that the Department of Criminal Inquiries Investigations under the leadership of the Dhofar Police arrested 21 individials accused of committing various crimes of theft.

The source added that "among the accused were eight people of African nationality who had robbed and vandalized 10 different schools, as well as seven others for stealing from public transport in the wilayats of Mirbat and Salalah.

The suspects confessed to committing the crimes and were referred to the judicial authorities.
