Here’s how your research material in Oman can win you OMR2,000

Muscat: Researchers based in Oman can still apply for the National Research Award and also win OMR2,000 in six research fields, The Research Council (TRC) has announced.

TRC had announced that they would start accepting research work from 1 August, 2018 and the last date for submitting would be 4 October, 2018.

"We are pleased to announce that we will begin [accepting] applications for the National Research award on 1/8/2018. The award, in its fifth cycle, aims to encourage researchers to conduct high quality research of national relevance,” The Research Council said in a statement. "The application window will close on 4 October, 2:00pm," the statement read.

This award, however, isn’t limited to people who have just published their research. Those who have published their work after the 30th of June, 2015 can apply for this too. The statement added, "The research should have been published after the 30th of June, 2015 in a journal indexed in Scopus or Web of Science or one of the listed Arabic Periodicals."

Both PhD and non-PhD holders can apply for this competition as there are two categories. "Category 1 is for the best published work of PhD holders, and the second category is for the best published work led by a young (non-PhD) researcher," the statement added.

This year, people from six categories can take part in the competition. "OMR2,00 is up for grabs in the ct Edegories of Education and Human Resources, IT and Communication Technologies, Health and Community Service, Cultural and Social Sciences, Energy and Industry, and Environmental and Biological Resources," TRC said.

Winners of the competition must be willing to present their work at the Annual Research Forum, organised by TRC, and applicants must either be a main or credited corresponding author of the submitted work.
