Oman share index ends lower

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended lower on Sunday and closed at 4,366.89 points, down by 0.54 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 605.39 points, down by 0.26 per cent. HSBC Bank was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Cables Industry was most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Oman And Emirates Inv. Holding, up by 2.80 per cent. The top loser was Salalah Mills, which closed lower by 4.25 per cent.
A total number of 142 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR278,000 with more than 1.60 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded stocks, 5 advanced, 10 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR19,000 worth of shares followed by Omani investors for OMR1,000, while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR20,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index lost 0.50 per cent to close at 6,778.27 points. Oman And Emirates Inv. Holding, Oman Qatar Insurance and HSBC Bank were up by 2.8 per cent, 0.91 per cent and 0.85 per cent respectively. National Bank Of Oman, Bank Sohar, Gulf Investment Services, Bank Dhofar and Bank Muscat were down by 2.7 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.11 per cent, 0.61 per cent and 0.54 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index lost 0.38 per cent to close at 5,490.52 points. There were no gainers. Salalah Mills and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were down by 4.25 per cent and 1.12 per cent, respectively.
Services Sector Index lost 0.23 per cent to close at 2,373.33 points. Muscat City Desalination and Almaha Petroleum Products were up by 0.75 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively. Ooredoo, Al Batinah Power and Omantel were down by 2 per cent, 0.87 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively.
