MUSCAT: Oman Football Association’s First Division season for 2018-19 will kick off on Saturday, August 25, 2018.
According to OFA there will be 13 teams facing off against each other for the coveted prize at the end of the league.
The teams that are in the top division are Fanja, Nizwa, Samail, Al Wusta, Quriyat, Jalan and Al Salam who make up Group A, While Al Mudhaibi, Al Basher, Bhala, Seeb, Bidiyah and Salalah make up Group B.
Meanwhile, the first week will see some interesting match-ups from Group A with Jalan take on Al Wusta on Day One in the opening encounter at 4.30pm, followed by two matches later on at 7.30pm with former champions Fanja facing off against Nizwa and Samail clashing with Al Salam. The other games which are slated to be held on Day Two which is the weekend will see Fanja take on Samail in their own backyard while Al Salam clash with Al Wusta at the Nizwa Complex in two earlier matches to be held at 4.30pm. Quriyat will match up against Jalan in Quriyat. From Group B Bhala takeon Salalah on their home ground at 4.30 while Bidiyah travel to Mudhaibi to clash with Al Mudhaibi Club, and Al Basher face off against Al Seeb at the Seeb Stadium at 7.30pm.on August 31. Day 2 matches will be held on September 13 when Bidiyah square off against Bhala in Bidiyah and Salalah clash with Al Basher at 4.15pm at the former's home ground.Al Mudhaibi will try to take maximum points off Al Seeb at the Seeb Stadium at 7pm.
The details of the new football season and schedules of various competitions were revealed by Oman Football Association during a press conference at the OFA Headquarters.
