Three expats arrested for selling illegal cigarettes, alcohol in Oman

Muscat: Three expats were arrested on charges of selling illegal cigarettes and possessing and selling alcohol and tobacco, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.
In the first case an expat was arrested with 2,000 boxes of illegal cigarettes in Adam. Officials said, “The Criminal Investigation Department at Adam Police Station arrested an Asian national on charges of selling illegal cigarettes. A total of 2,000 boxes of cigarettes and cash were seized.”
The other two expats were arrested for illegal possession and trading of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, Royal Oman Police reported on Wednesday.
An official source said, "The Investigation Department of Bahla Police Station arrested two suspects on charges of possessing and trading alcoholic beverages in Bahla. 235 cans of beer and 60 packs of chewable tobacco were confiscated.”
The accused were referred to judicial authorities to for the necessary procedures to be taken against them.
