In pictures: Spartan obstacle race begins in Oman

Muscat: The Spartan international obstacle race began on Saturday morning, in front of the Sifawy Hotel at Jebel Sifah, Muscat.
"The global obstacle race Spartan, organised by Shad United Company in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, is one of the most challenging sports competitions in the world, with 3,000 participants from several countries," the ministry said.
Alongside the adult race, children also has the chance to participate in a special children's event.
During Saturday's event, Her Excellency Maitha Al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Tourism, honoured the organisers of Spartan for their efforts in organising the race and for choosing the Sultanate to hold the global event.
