Rusayl Industrial Estate hosts workshop on electricity use

Muscat: Rusayl Industrial Estate, in cooperation with the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC), on Sunday organised a workshop on the optimal use of electricity and the scope of renewable sources such as solar energy.
The workshop, which was held at Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), targeted investors based in Rusayl Industrial Estate, which falls under the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates. They were also informed about the new electricity tariffs for companies and factories.
At the event, Salim Al Kharusi, Acting Director of Administrative Affairs at Rusayl Industrial Estate, said the workshop was part of the estate’s efforts to serve investors and industrialists in various fields. “The estate is always keen to hold seminars and meetings to exchange views with industrialists to overcome challenges they may face and contribute to decision-making that serves public interest,” Al Kharusi said.
“This particular workshop is in response to investors’ requests to clarify aspects related to consumption of electricity and its optimal usage, which plays a role in enhancing the productive capacity of factories,” he added.
MEDC officials presented papers that detailed a range of practices that help rationalise energy use, including cleaning filters and adjusting the temperature of air conditioners to 23°C. They also discussed the possibility of using renewable energy sources such as solar energy.
