Oman’s share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: Technical glitches resulted in a shortened trading session in which the MSM30 Index ended flat at 0.03 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.07 per cent to close at 662.65 points. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Dhofar Insurance rebounded to be the top gainer, up 8.97 per cent, while Oman Fisheries was the top loser, down 1.68 per cent.
A total number of 153 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR1.25 million with 3.24 million shares changing hands. Out of 17 traded securities, 4 advanced, 5 declined and 8 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR748,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR410,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR338,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.20 per cent to close at 7,285.89 points. Dhofar Insurance, Bank Sohar and Ominvest advanced 8.97 per cent, 2.00 per cent and 1.10 per cent respectively. Bank Nizwa and Bank Muscat lost 1.15 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index declined 0.07 per cent to finish at 6,350.89 points. Galfar Engineering gained 1.40 per cent while Oman Fisheries slid 1.03 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 2,552.66 points, down 0.24 per cent. Omantel and Renaissance Services declined 1.40 per cent and 1.03 per cent respectively.
