Call for environment friendly tourism funding

Muscat: The second version of Oman Environment Forum, which was held under the theme “Towards Systemic Integration of Environmental Citizenship” concluded yesterday with a range of recommendations.
The recommendations included enhancing communication among the national environmental and media organisations under a specialised umbrella “Environmental Media Network”.
The forum also recommended regularising environment-friendly tourism investment opportunities at and around the protected areas while taking into consideration the priorities of the locals. It also called for coordinating efforts by all relevant organisations to enforce the different punishments for wildlife violators, as well as recognizing individuals and organisations that support environment protection.
It also called for continuing environment education and awareness projects, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, taking into consideration the qualitative and quantitative expansion and including issues related to environmental policies, green economy and sustainable development for postgraduate researchers.
