Jeddah— Oman’s first national football team held a training session on Thursday at the auxiliary field of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah as part of its preparations to face Saudi Arabia in the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup.
The session focused on boosting the players’ physical and technical readiness, implementing tactical drills and strengthening coordination among the players ahead of the upcoming match.
The training was held in an enthusiastic atmosphere, with high concentration from the players as the technical staff worked to address tactical and technical aspects and ensure the team reaches the required level of readiness.
Team manager Khaled Al Rawas said Oman’s draw against Iraq in the opening match was a positive result, adding that preparations are now focused on the encounter with hosts Saudi Arabia.
He noted that the team is working to prepare well for the remaining matches and secure positive results that would help it advance to the next round. He added that head coach Tarek Sektioui is putting the final technical and tactical touches in place, stressing that the squad has no injuries.
Goalkeeper Ibrahim Al Mukhaini said the team succeeded in earning a point against Iraq and that the players performed well. He added that the technical staff is working to correct the mistakes made in the opening match and improve the team’s performance in the coming games.
He said the team’s immediate focus is on the Saudi match and on implementing the coaching staff’s instructions effectively.
Meanwhile, midfielder Zaher Al Aghbari described Oman’s performance against Iraq as strong and said the team is now fully focused on the Saudi encounter, expressing hope of achieving a positive result.
Al Aghbari stressed that all matches in the tournament are challenging and said the team is continuing its preparations to ensure the players are ready for the upcoming fixtures.
