Nearly 100,000 inspections carried out by Oman's consumer watchdog in 2017

Muscat: A total of 99,767 inspections have been carried out by the Sultanate's consumer watchdog in 2017, the Statistical and Technical Indicators Report issued by the Department of Economic Data and Information at the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) revealed.
According to the statement, "99,767 establishments and commercial centres, were inspected by the authority."
Between January and December 2017 the authority "received 34,013 references and issued 4,754 orders to attend to,' PACP said.
Ahmed Al Arimi, Director of Economic Data and Information Department, said "These statistics are used to demonstrate the role played by the Authority's staff from various departments, in order to achieve the objectives set by the Authority."
He added, "The employees are continuously ensuring that they follow up on the consumer market, to provide a safe environment."
