Deadline for application of irrigation systems extended

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has responded to the requests of farmers and has extended the deadline for the application of irrigation systems in farms from February to June 1.
According to the ministerial decision No.197/2017, anyone who wishes to cultivate animal grass to market outside the Sultanate, must install an irrigation system by February 2018.
The Ministry said, "In response to the demands of a group of farmers, ministerial Resolution No. 53/2018 was issued to extend the period of application for the aforementioned resolution to be effective from 1 June 2018."
The Ministry added, “This is done in order to enable farmers to complete the procedures required of them, to introduce modern irrigation systems for the areas required for marketing and complete the procedures for issuing a marketing card or marketing agent."
