Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) clarified that all tweets regarding civilian police who were dressed in plain clothes and were monitoring traffic violations were just rumours.
A fabricated tweet was being circulated online, which prompted ROP to put out a clarification.
The fabricated tweet read, "Report: Civilian police were launched with civilian vehicles on the streets to monitor violations, especially the use of mobile phone while driving."
However, ROP explained that they had nothing to do with it. In a statement online, ROP said, “The image of the tweet that was being circulated on social media was not issued by the official account. The publication of such news makes the owner liable to legal action."
