Oman competitiveness panel takes stock of business environment

Muscat: The challenges in improving business environment were discussed at a meeting of the National Committee for Competitiveness on Monday.
The Committee’s first meeting this year was held under the chair of Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Planning and Chairman of the National Committee for Competitiveness.
The Committee discussed the challenges facing the improvement of business environment in the Sultanate and facilitating the procedures for starting business, getting building permits, electricity, registering the freehold and transboundary trade to enhance the competitiveness of the Sultanate in the local, regional and world markets.
The Committee also reviewed the outcomes of the Office’s visit to the World Economic Forum in Geneva including how to benefit from the forum expertise.
During its meeting, the National Committee for Competitiveness approved the minutes for its third meeting for 2017 and followed up the measures taken to implement the decisions taken at that meeting. It also discussed the items listed on the agenda and took necessary decisions in their regard.
