Muscat bourse recovers on institutional support

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse closed on a positive note with the MSM general index closing at 5,067.21 points, up by 0.24 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 726.66 points, marginally up by 0.04 per cent. Al Anwar Holding was the most active regarding volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was Renaissance Services, up by 7.52 per cent while the top loser was Oman & Emirates, with a loss of 2.44 per cent.
A total number of 685 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR1.90 million with 11.57 million shares changing hands. Out of 29 traded securities, 12 advanced, 7 declined, and 10 remained unchanged. Foreign investors switched to net buyers for OMR176,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR75,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR251,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index up by 0.34 per cent to close at 7,433.96 points. Al Anwar Holding, Al Izz Islamic Bank, Gulf Investment Services and National Bank of Oman increased by 5.44 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.25 per cent and 1.05 per cent, respectively. Oman & Emirates and Bank Muscat fell by 2.44 per cent and 0.50 per cent, respectively.
Industry Index ended at 6,803.28 points, marginally down by 0.33 per cent. Voltamp Energy was the only gainer and was up by 0.36 per cent to close at OMR0.550. Anwar Ceramics, Gulf International Chemicals and Oman Fisheries fell by 1.91 per cent, 0.79 per cent and 0.77 per cent, respectively.
Services Index was up by 1.10 per cent to close at 2,563.86 points. Renaissance Services, Omantel, Phoenix Power and Al Batinah Power increased by 7.52 per cent, 2.20 per cent, 1.50 per cent and 0.70 per cent, respectively. Al Suwadi Power and Oreedoo Oman fell by 2.07 per cent and 0.77 per cent, respectively.
