Anoushka happy to explore different medium in 'Shiraz'

Kolkata: Grammy-nominated composer and sitarist Anoushka Shankar says she has explored a different medium by working for 'Shiraz: A Romance of India', a restored silent era movie where she has done a special live score.
'Shiraz' gives me a rewarding and fulfilling experience. It is a different medium from my previous music albums, Anoushka told reporters here last evening before screening of the 1928-film.
"It is a different medium and I have not done before. It is challenging for a musician. The experience again reminds me of the value of Indian classical music," she said. "As music touches our lives, I am happy this is going to connect with the modern audience," she said.
The British Council in partnership with the Sangit Kala Mandir screened 'Shiraz' with a special live score by Anoushka Shankar.
As part of the UK-India year of the culture, 2017, the first screening of 'Shiraz' was done in Hyderabad and after Kolkata, further show will take place in Delhi and Mumbai.
The British Council and the British Film Institute (BFI) had earlier announced that after the 61st BFI London Film Festival world premiere of the movie at the Barbican on October 14, the film would tour four Indian cities.
