How solar energy will help 80 houses in Oman gain access to well water

Muscat: Eighty homes will benefit from a new solar powered well in Al Dhakhiliyah.
The solar system will pump the water out of the well in Wadi Al Sigani in Samail to approximately 80 homes in Al Sansala and Wadi Al Sejani.

Thanks to the new system, these towns will be able to receive 8,000 gallons of water from the well. Diam, previously known as the Public Authority for Electricity and Water, will run the new well system, which will begun on Monday, in Al Dakhiliyah.
Around 40 solar panels will be installed with a productive capacity of 10 kilowatts per hour.
The solar panels will produce 2,200 gallons of water per hour; water is pumped into the tanks of Wadi Al Sigani. The well pump will have an emergency diesel generator in case the panels stop working.
Introducing the solar system to the well took approximately six weeks, and the next period includes the implementation of a number of solar projects to run water wells located in areas far from electric lines.
