Muscat: The first land to sea line in Oman launched today, as the Muscat-Shinas-Khasab line using buses on land and ferries across the sea swung into operation.
The bus departed from Muscat this morning and will arrive in Shinas later on today, before passengers board the Khasab ferry. Passengers on the maiden voyage were given chocolates, as they enjoyed their land to sea journey.
The new land-sea line was launched by Oman National Transport Company (Mwasalat) and National Ferries Company (NFC).
The first-of-its-kind service will consist of four round trips a week.The journey’s duration will not exceed the length of the current ferry journey from Muscat to Khasab. This line will also provide the flexibility to start or end the journey in other cities in the Sultanate without additional costs or additional means of transfer.
Ticket prices and promotional offers will be available during the coming period through the official channels of the National Ferries Company and Oman National Transport Company.
There will be two trips on the Muscat-Shinas-Khasab route on Sunday and Thursday. The journey will take place on the same day from Muscat at 12:15 pm and the ferry will leave Shinas at 4:30 pm and arrive at Khasab at 7:00 pm.
The other two flights on the Khasab-Shinas-Muscat route will be on Saturdays and Tuesdays, the ferry will depart on the same day from Khasab at 1:00 pm and the bus will leave Shinas at 4:50 pm and arrive Muscat at 8:20 pm evening.
