Omani students invent new wheelchair

Muscat: Three students in Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) have invented an adjustable wheelchair.

A statement by the university said, “SQU has received a new patent from the US office for patents for inventing a ‘Multi-mobility wheelchair’.”

The statement added, “This chair was invented by Khalfan Al Nasri, Yosuf bin Salim Al Mushaiqry, and Mustafa bin Sulaiman Al Shuaili from the Engineering school’s department of mechanical engineering.
“The unique chair can be turned into a simple bed with the push of a button. It also boasts a mechanism designed to strengthen the user’s legs and knees. This mechanism allows the user to do his or her own strength training without any outside interference.”
